Load Capacity Is A Whole-Chair Result
Buyers often ask for a load capacity number early in the inquiry. We understand why, especially for heavy duty camping chairs, oversized chairs and commercial campsite chairs. But load capacity is not decided by one material. It is the result of frame, fabric, joints, stitching and product geometry working together.
A chair may fail at the tube, joint, rivet, fabric pocket, seam or plastic foot. If the factory only talks about tube thickness, the buyer may miss other weak points. Our production team checks the chair as a complete structure.
The correct load target should match the market. A lightweight beach chair and a repeated-use campsite chair should not follow the same design logic.
What We Look At Before Testing
Before load testing, we review tube specification, frame angle, joint position, rivet quality, fabric tension, fabric pockets and stress point stitching. If the sample already shows poor balance or uneven tension, testing may only confirm a problem we can see earlier.
We also check whether the chair opens correctly and sits evenly on the ground. A chair that is not balanced may pass a simple static load once but create user complaints during real use.
For custom orders, the approved sample should be tested in the same structure that will be used for bulk production.

Tube size, frame angle and leg balance decide how weight moves through the chair.

Fabric panels and pockets must carry pressure without pulling seams open.

Rivets and folding joints should stay stable after repeated opening and sitting.
Static Load And Real Use Are Not The Same
A static load test is useful, but it does not show every risk. Real users sit down, lean back, shift weight, open and fold the chair, use it on uneven ground and sometimes exceed the intended use. The buyer should understand what the test is actually measuring.
For some orders, a static load check may be enough. For stronger retail claims, campsite use or high-load designs, repeated sitting or folding checks may be more useful. The testing method should match the risk the buyer wants to control.

Fabric And Stitching In Load Testing
Fabric failure is common when load testing is treated as a frame-only question. The seat panel may stretch. The fabric pocket may pull open. The stitching around a corner may fail. Reinforcement tape or a different sewing pattern may be needed.
For moon chairs and oversized chairs, fabric tension is especially important because the seat shape carries much of the user's weight. A strong frame cannot protect a weak fabric pocket.
During sample review, we check where the pressure moves when someone sits in the chair. That helps us decide whether reinforcement is needed before bulk production.
Sampling Records And Bulk Production
Testing one sample is not enough if bulk production does not follow the same standard. The production file should record tube, fabric, stitching, joint details and any reinforcement. If these points change, the load result may change too.
For bulk orders, buyers may request load test sampling during production or before shipment. The sampling plan should be agreed in advance so the QC team knows what to check and how to report it.
Load claims should not be copied from a different model. Even similar-looking chairs can have different strength because frame and fabric details change.

Export And After-Sales Risk

Packing can also affect the chair before use. If the frame is pressed, scratched or bent during shipping, the chair may not perform like the tested sample. Export packing and load expectation should be reviewed together.

For commercial campsite buyers, load review should include repeated handling by staff and guests. A chair that survives one static test may still become loose if it is opened, moved and folded many times each week. If the buyer changes frame tube, fabric, stitching or joint detail after a load review, the test result should not be treated as unchanged. Small production changes can move stress to a different part of the chair.
